**Measures to Prevent Failure of Rubber Seals**

The careful selection of seals is crucial and requires a sound understanding of the relevant factors. When choosing seals, it is important to consider their oil resistance, wear resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance, and chemical resistance in relation to the specific operating environment. Additionally, the elasticity and tensile strength of the seals should be evaluated. For instance, the typical compressive strength of standard oil seals ranges from 0.30 to 0.5 MPa, while pressure-resistant types can achieve up to 1.0 MPa.

To ensure proper installation and prevent damage to the seals, it is essential to adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

 

1. **Chamfer and Lubricate**: Implement a chamfer or guide cone at the entry point of the passage through which the seal will be installed. Additionally, applying a high-melting grease will facilitate a smooth installation process.

2. **Remove Burrs**: Ensure that any residual burrs or sharp edges at the inlet and outlet areas are removed to prevent them from scratching the surface of the seals.

3. **Thread Protection**: When seals need to be installed through threaded sections, it is advisable to use a mold or to wrap tape around the threads. This will help prevent damage, and applying grease will assist with the installation.

4. **Correct Orientation**: Note that most seals are directional, with the exception of O-rings. Installing seals in the wrong orientation will compromise their sealing effectiveness. It is equally important to ensure that any auxiliary components are installed correctly.
